This week I decided to take two days off work as holiday. What for you might ask? A nice trip across the channel to Paris with the girlfriend? Perhaps just to sit back and relax for a couple of days? Well neither of these to be honest. Because I spent the last two days completely clearing out my room ready for Kinect when it is released next week.
Now that might sound like a bit of a waste of time but trust me there was no way I was getting close to playing Kinect with the way my room was in and this is because the television was in front of the bed meaning there was just not a gap I could stand to start playing.
After two days of completely turning my room over, 8 black sacks, a thrown out desk and many movements of furniture later, I think it is safe to say that I am now ready to play Kinect. All that I am waiting for now is to see if I am going to get it delivered to me in time, something that I don’t think is very likely at the moment.
This post does have a point to it, I’m not going to babble on about clearing my room all day! What I’m getting across to you is that you need to know that you have to have space when it comes to playing Kinect. Without space the device is useless unless you just want to wave your hand around on the dashboard which would be an expensive venture just to take part in this. It is also worth knowing that if you are thinking about playing with two people in the room then you are going to need an even bigger space.
Something that has come from America already is that the Kinect Sensor is very hard to setup to start with, and if you have poor lighting then you need to sort it as it will cause you problems.
However games like Dance Central have received very good reviews from key sites like IGN and I am confident this is going to be worth the investments so long as you have the room for it.
In fact, IGN have released a lot of reviews that have already been done for Kinect already and considering I usually trust what IGN say here are just a few of them.
With Microsoft already expecting sales of anything between 3-5 million units, is this something you are going to buy? Let me know in the comments.
Post from Ryan, who is a keen gamer really looking forward to Kinect. He works for a company that deal with spa hotels
