This has to be the first Xbox Live Arcade game that I have reviewed on Tech Info and it has nothing to do with laziness. I have never before been inclined to actually bother trying to complete an Arcade title before. Braid was good but I never really felt inspired to finish it and Banjo Kazooie one and two were just reminders of my childhood, but I still had them working on the N64. Limbo on the other hand made me think about a review and here are the reasons why.

Limbo’s gameplay is very unique, and believe me, I have played a lot of Xbox games over the past few years and I have not seen something like this before. The art form of the game is made up of visuals, ambient sound effects and some very unique gameplay. The game has no text or dialogue and is played in a film noir style which automatically sends off signals that this is going to be a bad game. However, you would be wrong in thinking this.
The game is easily one of the best arcade games I have played this year, if not ever and is one of the best games I have played on any platform so far this year too.
You wake up in the middle of a remote forest with no way of knowing who you are, how you actually got there or where you have to go which adds to the game immensely. You then walk a few paces further to find this is one of the most dangerous gaming environments ever created.

Around every corner is a trap, puzzle or person waiting to kill you and you have to figure out how to get past it, alive. Although you will die a lot in this game, it doesn’t become frustrating at all as you spawn back right to where the puzzle begins and you feel enticed to work to solve it, rather than turn the console off in frustration. There are no loading screens or cut screens in this game so there is nothing to get in the way of the action.
The only issue I had with the game is that it only takes around 5-6 hours to complete, but I would much rather have a brilliant short game than a really long game that just doesn’t do it for me.
Overall, this game could easily be the best arcade title of the year and from first time developers it is a massive achievement.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game from start to finish and give it a very strong 9.5/10- I encourage you to go and at least download the trial right now!

The Xbox360 and the Playstation 3 have been doin’ nicely, but Microsoft and Sony see the Nintendo Wii performing much better, and they’re right after a piece of the motion gaming action
