This is my first game post that I have done since E3 and although arguably I could have chosen to review a bigger game like Transformers or Tiger Woods 11 (they will come later) I have chosen to review something a bit different.
Naughty Bear
Before I even go into the review for this game, I will say it has many flaws. Various reviewers such as IGN have given it a mere 3 or less out of 10. However ff you look past the many problems the game has, you will actually see some light at the end of the tunnel.
Within the game you play a bear that has not been invited to the other bears party, and of course makes the main character (naughty bear) pretty angry so you end up going on a murderous rampage killing all other bears in sight with everything from cleavers to golf clubs and even guns. This all sounds like a right laugh and it is if you are sitting down to play it for the first time, but after playing for a few hours the game just has too many issues to be fun.
Each weapon has an execution cutscene to it, which is great but it would seem that some of them simply pass through the bears and somehow you can do them through windows and doors. It just gets a bit old after you have done it a few times. The framerate is terrible and the camera is diabolical as it can get stuck in walls and obscure the view completely.
On the other hand it is a fun game to sit and play, and whilst I wouldn’t recommend anyone splashing out £40 for this title I would say go after it when it hits the bargain bins just so you can play something a bit different.
The one thing it has above most other games is freshness, I have not seen anything like it before and it is for this one reason alone that I like the game. In terms of multiplayer it is poor, very poor, and the single player will not take you too long to complete either.
Something that did shock me was the age rating on this game, here in the UK it is a 12 and considering the majority of the game involves you murdering things in a number of different ways I personally think it is one left for people 15+. Saying that my teenage sister loves it and has been playing it a lot more than I have, is this because it is an alternative for GTA for younger people?
All in all a very poor game from the developers behind WET and Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, but it has its charm.
I give it a very fair 5/10
