5 Of My Most Used Programs

I regularly get asked by people, what my favorite software is. What’s the program I always have running in the background and is the first thing I open when I boot up my laptop?

So I’ve decided to put together a short little list for you all, showing the top 5 programs I use the most on my PC. Some of them you probably will have heard of, but maybe there’s one or two that could be new to you.

So here it goes, my top 5 most used programs

  1. Google Chrome
  2. Windows Media Player
  3. Gimp
  4. Windows Live Messanger
  5. FileZilla

1. Google Chrome

By far the most used program on my PC. First thing I do when I boot up is launch Google Chrome and open up several tabs to check my email, facebook, stats etc….

Why I use Google Chrome over other browsers, is because it’s really fast, stable and clean. It’s the best interface going, it has support for great little plugins, themes and more. But the main reason I use it is because it’s just so fast. I’ve compared it with both Firefox, Opera and Internet Explorer and it just blows both of them out of the water.

What I love even more is the start screen, the dashboard of my most visited sites, it’s dead handy and looks cool too.

2. Windows Media Player

The reason I use Windows Media Player over iTunes is because it’s just an awful lot quicker yet again (yes I like my speed) iTunes may have a few more features, but it takes forever to load, Windows Media Player on the other hand is quick and snappy. It’s great for video playback too, and seems to support nearly every format under the sun.

The only thing I wish it had was podcast support and better sync with devices.

3.GIMP

This is the free alternative to photoshop, and is one of my favorite programs. It takes a bit of getting used to, especially if your used to photoshop as the layout is fairly different, but you can do anything that you can do in photoshop with it, and what’s even better is it’s completely free!

4.Windows Live Messenger

I’m sure most of you use this all the time, MSN is just so handy for keeping in touch with people, I just launch it when I start up my PC and it’s as simple as that. You can IM, Voice Chat and Video Chat all in one program.

5. FileZilla

The reason I use an FTP program like FileZilla is because i’m constantly uploading things to my various blogs and sites. I’m always trying out new plugins, themes or changing the odd bit of code here and there and FileZilla just makes it easy to update. Of course pretty much all FTP programs will do the job today.

So there you go, 5 of my most used programs,

What are you’re favorite programs? Let me know in the comments
