Probably one of the most played games in the world at the moment is Modern Warfare 2, loved and hated by many, but still played on across the PC, PS2 and Xbox 360! If you join in the fun you will more than likely find yourself thrown into a world of fun and playfulness, but also a world of strange new words and new ways to be insulted! Unfortunately you do get the frequented “Loon (Crazy person)” join your games and relatively often you will receive some unpleasant swear words. Of course you can just mute all of these, but then they do have the option to message you!
Anyway back to the objective at hand. Some of the words will be familiar to you, but there are some that you may not be all that aware of. I may throw in some bonus people to check out if you are going to buying this game and want some tutorials, or just something interesting to see!
“Noob” – This will be the most common word heard on MW2, if not heard every single game then something is wrong. This is a relatively calm insult that basically defined means “Amateur”.
“Pwned” – This is a combination of Pawned and Owned, basically it means that you have been killed. They generally only use this when you have been “camping” (Covered next) or doing something that has annoyed them. It was really a Typo that just sort of found its place in the gaming world.
“Camping” – the description is really in the term. It means to remain in the same place for a prolonged period of time, basically staying in one place to try and shoot the enemy without moving (Usually a position where you have your back against a wall and only one or two points of entry).
“Grass Blasters” – I like this one quite a lot, it is basically a sniper that lays out in the field / grass wearing a Ghillie suit
(looks like a bunch of weeds).
“Noob Tube” – This is where you fire your grenade at someone and kill them, it usually involves more than one kill, and sometimes is fired right at the start into a group of people at their spawn point.
“KDR” – This is your Kill to Death Ratio. Basically how many kills you have compared to your deaths.
“No Scoping” – Where you use a sniper rifle to shoot someone without even looking through the scope.
“Quick Scoping” – Similar to the one above, however you fire just as you bring the scope to your eye!
“Boosting” – This is where you improve your XP in the quickest and easiest way possible, loads of people hate Boosters and they can be incredibly annoying, most of the time they operate in the same way as a Camper!
Most of these have actually been around for a long time, but I still get people ask me what these mean… At least now I have somewhere to send them!
