Ok so I’m sure you’ve read our post about Google’s latest edition of Froyo, if you haven’t read it now! Google never told us exactly when it would be available, but since this morning certain users of Google Nexus One’s have been reporting that their devices had been pushed the update.

It seems this is a gradual roll out for the Nexus One as not everyone seems to be getting it, so if your impatient and really cant wait to load up your Nexus One with the latest Android OS we’ve got the solution for you.

You can manually update your Nexus One To Andoid 2.2 Froyo follow these steps – And no you Don’t have to root your device as this is an official upgrade.

  1. Download the Android 2.2 firmware for the Nexus One  - Click Here To Download
  2. Now rename the file to update.zip and copy it to your microSD card via USB.
  3. Shut down you Nexus One
  4. Hold down the “Volume Down” button as you power the phone back on.
  5. A screen will then appear showing your phone’s system searching for various files. Scroll down to “recovery” and press the “Power” button.
  6. When you see the triangle with an exclamation point symbol, press the “Power” and “Volume Up” buttons at the same time.
  7. From the menu that appears, select “Apply sdcard:update.zip.”
  8. When the screen displays “Install from sdcard complete” select “reboot system now” and wait for the phone to power back up.

And when it’s rebooted you should be good to go and running the latest Android 2.2 Froyo software. Now if your not up to messing around with your Nexus One like this, just be patient as I’m sure all Nexus One’s will be updated soon enough.

Enjoy
