It just keeps going on and on, just over a week ago we were rejoicing at the fact that the HTC Desire would in fact be shipping earlier than anticipated at the end of March. Then that date slipped back to the 7th April and now today we have been told it’s being pushed back even further to the 13th of April.
Vodafone UK on the other hand have said they’ve begun shipping the phone early after rumours of a delay were circulating.
“We’ve already started shipping the HTC Desire to customers and fulfilling pre-orders ahead of our stated 8 April launch date”, a spokesman for Vodafone said.
So Vodafone customers in the UK should have their Desire’s by now or if not they should be the end of the week.
However the Sim Free models appear to be delayed again, the cause according to retailers is the manufacturer HTC is postponing all shipments until next week.
Retailer Clove had the following message;
We have now been informed by HTC this morning that they are delaying shipments to all SIM-Free E-tailers until next week. The actual shipping date is yet to be confirmed, although HTC expect to start releasing stock on 13 April.
Other online retailers are also repeating the message citing the 13th or 14th of April as the release date.
So assuming HTC does release stock on the 13th of April, it will be at least the 14th by the time retailers begin shipping it out so we will be doing well to receive our orders by the end of next week.
That’s assuming that HTC don’t push back the date again. I wonder what the reason is, are they giving priority to the carriers to release the phone first or is there actually a software glitch like what was rumoured last time?
