Can We Stop Talking About The iPad Already?

I’ve really had enough now, every time I go onto the web to check for any news or have a look at my rss feeds, all I see is some other story that’s been written about the iPad. Nothing interesting is happening on the web these last few days, it’s all about the flippin iPad!

Now don’t get me wrong, the iPad is a nice device, however there is currently no need for it in my life and I think you will find that I’m not alone here. It does nothing extra that my laptop can’t do, and my iPod touch has pretty much all the features as well. The only thing different is the larger screen.

There’s was an incredible build up to the Apple event when they finally announced the Apple tablet, which people had been predicting for nearly more than a year. What was the reaction when it was finally released? Well the die hard Apple fanboys seem to see it as something that will somehow save the world from destruction. Hello, newsflash! The iPad will not stop climate change, it will not clear your debt, it will not sort out the worlds economy and it will not cure cancer! All these reviews are starting to come out from individuals hand picked by Apple to ensure they get good coverage, they can’t seem to speak highly enough of it, they won’t focus on the bad points.

All the iPad is is a glorified iPod touch and the only reason it is getting the worlds media’s undivided attention is because it’s being made by Apple. I can guarantee if this was made by some other tech company like HP or Toshiba, it would not receive even half the media attention the iPad has.

I simply cannot realise the worlds obsession with this thing, right now I’m completely fed up with the iPad and couldn’t care less about it and I will never be buying one. All I keep hearing about are what apps are being specially developed just for the iPad and how yet another site has decided to create a HTML 5 site because the iPad doesn’t even support flash.

People are taking it to the extreme,when will they realise – you don’t need an iPad! There is already queues outside Apple stores across the states, and this thing doesn’t even go on sale until tomorrow. Why would you even bother??

What people don’t realise is there is already better tablet devices out their that might serve some purpose in your life. There are several tablets coming out and already out that run Linux,Android and Windows 7 which all allow you to multitask and play flash videos. They also have cameras and you aren’t locked into everything Apple with them. They do everything the iPad does and more, not to mention their cheaper.

It’s only because it’s Apple that all their fanboys are making such a big to-do over it all and letting the whole world know that they would do anything just to get their hands on “Apple’s latest creation”. We hear about these analysts saying that Apple will ship millions of these things and make them millions. Unfortunately I think Apple will sell a fair number of these,though not because it’s a great product. It’s because people are being tricked into buying something that they don’t need. The iPhone and the iPod Touch were revolutionary products, the iPad is not.

So could we please stop with all the media coverage and telling me every single thing that comes out about the iPad because frankly I don’t care that EA Games has released an App for the iPad or that another analysts is predicting the iPad will be a success. It’s not going to convince me to buy an iPad and if somebody gave me one, I would probably sell it.

I know you will probably slate me in the comments, but sure bring it on, maybe you can convince me otherwise.
