Back at CES Microsoft announced their own tablet PC that they hope will compete with Apple’s iPad. Microsoft themselves are not making the tablet PC, but HP are and it will be called the HP “Slate”. We now have a rumoured price and release date courtesy of Spanish publication Clipset.
According to them, the Slate will go on sale for €400, cheaper than the cheapest iPad, take that Apple. On the downside, we aren’t expected to see the device until sometime in June. However word on the street is that it will be available in Europe “Before September”
What has people excited over the HP Slate, is the fact that unlike the iPad, it runs Windows 7. So that means it also has support for Flash and Multitasking! Yes did you hear that Apple – Flash and Multitasking!!
Clipset also got word on some more specifications about the HP Slate;
- It’s said to have an Atom CPU
- USB Reader
- Memory Card Slot
- Integrated Camera On The Back
A while back Adobe also gave us a nice video demo of the new device, just to prove it could run flash and really annoy Apple :-)
