The Xbox seems to be let down by the pricey hardware accessories for it like the Wireless dongle and the hard drives. But what’s this? Could our storage woos finally be filed away in gigabytes of additional memory? Well according to gaming blog Joystiq, they are.
Joystiq has screens of what it says is an upcoming build of the Xbox 360 system software that will allow USB mass storage devices to serve as additional memory.

Joystiq say the feature is due out in an update within the next few months as part of a spring system update. What it will do is allow any USB based storage device to be used as additional memory up to 16GB just like the current Xbox 360 hard drive and memory units currently do.
This will allow users to copy games, movies and downloadable c0ntent to the USB device instead of having to spin up the Xbox disc drive every time.
However the system limits the number of external USB devices to just 2 additional memory units up to 16GB each so don’t be getting to excited if you have a rake of USB sticks and a USB hub. But it’s still nice to know you can have an additional 32GB of memory.
Microsoft currently offer their own USB memory units, they only thing is they max out at a mere 512mb so I think their time on this earth is limited.
It will be great to see this feature implemented and allow Xbox users, in particular for those with only 20GB hard drives to expand and gain more memory without shelling out big money for the expensive hard drives.

I never imagined that Xbox has its own software, or a storage device, this is new to me, maybe that is why this platform is so much expensive.
