Just over 6 months after it was named the most unreliable game console, with more than 8 times the failure rate than that of the Nintendo Wii and more than twice that of the PS3, Microsoft have managed to strike one back beating Sony and Nintendo in the sales charts.
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 was the top selling video-game console in February, topping the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 for the first time since 2007.
Xbox 360 sales reached an impressive 422,000 units last month, while Sony managed to ship 360,100 PS3s and Nintendo sent 397,900 Wiis, on their way, according to The NPD Group.
This is the first time the Xbox 360 nabbed the top spot since September 2007. Back then it was number one as the release of Halo 3 drove it’s sales past the others.
Even though the PS3 game in thrid, it’s sales are still up 30% year over year which is quite an impressive feat and just goes to show that their is still strong demand for game consoles. Yet it’s not enough and total hardware sales which include the PSP and Nintendo DS were down.
But we should expect to see a surge in sales as new releases and gift buying for Easter comes into the picture over the next few weeks.
