Updated Post Here:

We now have recieved word that this car is in fact going into production – see this updated post

Hybrid cars are yet to take off in a big way and I can’t name many that would win first prize in any fashion contest. That was of course until I just came across this new Porsche 918 Spider Hybrid. I mean Wow!, if I turns out to be anything like what it looks like in the pictures below I will be amazed and I wouldn’t mind owning one myself, not that that would ever happen.

So it certainly looks the part, but what’s really under the hood of this machine?

Well for a start there’s a 3.4-liter V8 petrol engine that’s combined with electric motors to pump out an impressive 500bhp. Understandably it’s not to bad on the acceleration front either, 0-62mph (100 kmh) in just 3.2 seconds. You’ll then find yourself travelling at a cool 198mph flat out, all the while aware that your doing your bit for the environment managing 78mpg.

However who knows if it will ever go on sale, but if you want to see more of it, head on over to the Geneva Motor Show or have a look at some of the pics below
