Nexus One Update Enables Multitouch

Nexus one users can now rejoice and prospective Nexus one buyers now have an extra incentive to purchase Google’s Nexus One. Google were criticised for not having multitouch enabled on the Nexus One in the US, while it was available in Europe. Well a software update today now adds multitouch to the Nexus One.

The update also adds Google Goggles, which allows you to search things on the web by just taking a picture of them

It also adds an updated version of Google Maps and a fix to help solve issues users have been having with 3G connectivity on the Nexus One.

Nexus One users should receive a notification on their mobile phone which will allow them to download and install the latest update. However Google say it’s been rolled out gradually and some users may not receive the notification until the end of the week.

I’m sure Nexus One owners are delighted now that they finally have the multitouch features activated on their devices, especially pinch to zoom. This should be a great boost for the Nexus One, which hasn’t got off to the flying start Google had hoped. And this may finally give a bit of competition to the iPhone, which is largely successful thanks to it’s multitouch technology.
