Well the waiting is all over now, we can finally breath a sigh of relief, the Apple Tablet was finally announced by none other than Steve Jobs, and no better man to do it. It’s officially called the iPad. So here’s what we know

  1. It’s called the iPad
  2. It runs an OS very similar to the iPhones, no multitasking or flash support I’m afraid.
  3. It’s 0.5 inches thin, and weighs just 1.5 pounds and has a 9.7 inch display – thinner and lighter than any netbook.
  4. It will cost $499 for a 16GB, $599 for 32GB, $699 for 64GB and add an extra $130 for 3G models.
  5. There will be 2 data plans available, 250mb per month for $14.99 with AT&T or $29.99 for unlimited data.
  6. No contract required, can cancel anytime, free use of AT&T hotspots.
  7. The iPad will be available in 60 Days worldwide, and the 3G models will arrive in 90 Days.
  8. All the apps on the app store will work on it, by either running in a box, or doubling the number of pixels. Developers have also been given a new SDK to develop full screen apps.
  9. It’s powered by a 1GHz Apple A4 chip, with 802.11n, WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, an accelerometer, compass, speaker, mic, dock connector.
  10. Steve says it will have an impressive 10 hours battery life with up to a months standby time.
  11. Apple have announced their own eBook store called iBook
  12. They completely redesign iWork for the iPad giving it a new GUI and a cost of just $9.99 for each app
  13. No Camera

And that’s basically all we know for now

What do you think of Apples latest creation?
