It seems the “Google Phone” isn’t doing as well as Google hoped. With only 20,000 units sold within the first week, compare this to the myTouch which sold around 60,000 units, Droid which sold about 250,000 units and the iPhone 3GS had sold 1,600,000 units (1.6M) after a week. So the Nexus One is way off the mark here.
T-Mobile has now slashed the price of it’s upgrade. You can buy the handset for $529 (£325) unlocked, or for $179 (£110) when you buy it with a 2 year contract with T-Mobile. However, current T-Mobile customers had previously been forced to fork up $379 (£230) to get their mitts on the phone as an upgrade to their current handset – just $150 less than the SIM free version. Now T-Mobile has reduced that price by $100 to just $279 and are refunding the customers who purchased it at $379.
Customers are said to be reimbursed by Google Checkout within the next two weeks, so at least Google are responding to some things, now they just need to get their customer service in order and make the Nexus One available worldwide!!
