Windows 7 has only been available for just over 2 months to the public, but Microsoft say it’s clear that Windows 7 is the fastest selling operating system in Windows history. The first week stats of the Windows 7 launch week already showed that Windows 7 was outselling Windows Vista at its time of release by 234%.
Windows 7 was also breaking records on Amazon just before its release and became the most popular pre-order product ever. But it is not only the first few days that Windows 7 performed well in sales. A year over year increase of PC sales of over 50% in each of the last four weeks of December is just another example of the sales figures that Windows 7 is racking up.
It’s no surprise that Windows 7 is Microsoft’s best selling OS, it’s clean, easy to use, fast and most importantly it works. That’s what the majority of people are looking for in an operating system, and Windows 7 delivers that. It will be interesting now to see if Windows 7 can overtake what Windows XP held in terms of market share.
