Windows 7 Wins Again – Beats Vista Sales By 234%
Ok some of you may be getting fed up with news about the success of Windows 7, but surely there is a reason behind it?
Microsoft were proud to annonuce on their blog that Windows 7 has beaten Windows Vista sales by 234%. According to the NPD Group which is a well know group supplying market information to industries, Windows 7 sales in the USA have been 234% higher than Windows Vista over the first few days.
“Microsoft’s program of early low-cost pre-sales, high visibility marketing, and aggressive deals helped make the Windows 7 software launch successful,” said Stephen Baker, vice president of industry analysis at NPD. “In a slow environment for packaged software Windows 7 brought a large number of customers into the software aisles.”
Microsoft have been encouraging users to upgrade to their latest OS more than ever this time around and it seems their efforts are paying off. Just before Windows was launched we found out that it had beaten the record previously held by Harry Potter for the most number of pre-orders sold. Another impressive feat!
Windows 7 sales seem to be flying along and I can only assume that this trend will continue as we head into the holiday season. Windows 7 already holds 3.25% of the market and Vista has already dropped from 23.6% to 23.03% since Windows 7 was released. It still hasn’t caught up with MacOS which is currently at 4.82% but I reckon this barrier may be quickly beaten.
What do you think? Will Windows 7 beat Windows XP’s market share – Currently at over 66%? How long do you think it will take? Let us know in the comments
