Microsoft’s latest OS is officially released to the public tomorrow, I personally have been running the Windows 7 RC since August and I can’t wait to install the Final RTM. Whats more Amazon Managing Director Brian McBride announced today that Windows 7 has become the most popular Pre-order ever on Amazon.co.uk.windows-7-logo

Windows 7 managed to beat the Nintendo Wii and JK Rowlings Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, to the number 1 spot.

The launch of Windows 7 has superseded everyone’s expectations, storming ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as the biggest grossing pre-order product of all-time at Amazon.co.uk, and demand is still going strong,

Amazon is one of the biggest online retailers and to break any records with them is no easy feat. Apparently only Dan Browns, The Lost Symbol has managed to out sell Windows 7 in the past 3 months, but that has been out since September. Amazon say this is quite an achievement especially for a software product.

Microsoft will be delighted to hear this news as it just goes to show how succesful their new Operating System is proving to be. Windows 7 isn’t officially released to the public until tomorrow but this goes to show that demand for Windows 7 from consumers is there. It also tells us that PC users can’t wait to upgrade from Windows Vista. Windows 7 managed to sell more pre-order copies in the first 8 hours than Windows Vista did in the whole pre-order period.

I certainly can’t wait to get my copy of Windows 7, What about you guys? Let us know in the comments.

I am always two years behind as far as installing a Microsoft OS. The previous versions came with some many bugs and security holes I have to wait until most patches are available. I just hope the Vista disaster has taught Microsoft to not rush into releasing a half-baked product until it's fully tested.
