Microsoft’s new operating system Windows 7, has already been delivered early to some customers in the UK. While Tech Net and MSDN subscribers have already been able to download the RTM copy of Windows 7, it isn’t to be made available to the public until the 22nd of October.
UK users received Windows 7 early due to the looming threat of a postal strike in the UK, stores like Currys and PC World have begun shipping copies of Windows 7 earlier so as not to disappoint users who have pre-ordered it.
Microsoft have said they will impose a hefty fine on anyone who sells Windows 7 earlier than the 22nd October. But these stores claim they were consulting with Microsoft and were given permission to ship the OS a day or 2 earlier, in order to minimize to impact on consumers.
